Content

Introductory lecture units for each experiment, practical exercises at home to get to know the experimental environment (Linux command line, basic commands for network administration, recording traffic) as well as graded presence exercises in the experimental lab on the following topics: Addressing devices on the Internet, routing protocols, DNS, email, data transfer with TCP/UDP. Students learn the practical use of central protocols and applications of the global Internet.

Objectives

Students significantly deepen their practical knowledge of communication networks, particularly with regard to practical aspects. They can independently acquire new knowledge and skills and apply their problem-solving abilities in new and unfamiliar contexts. They learn to communicate their knowledge in a clear and unambiguous manner and to exchange it at a scientific level.
