This lecture is part of the compusory module "Medizinische Terminologie & Humanbiologie I" (MDZINM1310).

Content:
Linguistic background of medical terminology: Function of medical terminology as part of the general scientific language. Influences of modern foreign languages. Synonymy, eponymy, metonymy, declensions, orthography and common abbreviations; phonetics; grammar. Translating medical findings and texts.

Objectives

After completing this lecture, the students know the foundations of medial terminology (linguistic structure, ortography, synonyms, influences of modern foreign languages); they understand medical terminology as a common ground (between the disciplines involved in medical informatics).
